PARKLAND, Fla. (AP) - At the height of the U.S. housing boom, when building materials were in short supply, American construction companies used millions of pounds of Chinese-made building materials because it was abundant and cheap.

Now that decision is haunting hundreds of people who used these cheap Chinese made materials. They  are concerned that the building materials give off fumes that can corrode copper pipes, blacken jewelry and silverware, and possibly sicken people.

Shipping records reviewed by The Associated Press indicate that imports of potentially tainted Chinese building materials exceeded 500 million pounds during a four-year period of soaring home prices.

Also the American Pet Casket Market is being flooded with cheaply made cardboard pet caskets as opposed to those that are made of solid wood, metal, or plastic construction here in America. Most of the web sites on the Internet selling these imitations are promoting them as being made of real wood when they are not.  See following example:
